North Perth Extension
In early 2011 the new owners contracted Hallmark Developments to carry out their North Perth Extension.
This federation style home built in North Perth around 1910, last had alterations carried out when an asbestos and linoleum sleep-out was added back in the 50’s. At the time it was a modern addition and many of the houses in the area still carry the sleep-out at the back.
In early 2011 the new owners contracted Hallmark Developments to carry out their North Perth Extension. Hallmark Developments Wa were engaged to demolish the now tired sleep out and add on around 40m2 of open plan living space. The brief was simple; keep it within the budget, carry through into the alfresco the 3.2m high ceilings, use a brick that would sit well against the existing brickwork and bring the sea breeze and views of the city into the living area using a combination of sliding doors, windows and louvres, Lastly, ensure the galvanized dutch gabled roof was secure and sea worthy before the rains set in mid year.
All aspects of the brief were met with splendid organisation am efficiency and it is a compliment to Mark Gethin and his team for their workmanship and professionalism,. Contemporary features are not overpowering and give the renovation a required functionality and individuality while significant attention has been paid to combining and harmonising old and new. The result is a superbly comfortable living space that enhances and respects the history contained within the original building and presents a renovation that by definition revives and breathes new life into the entire home.
